The Haunted Sedan
You might think ghost stories are limited to old mansions, but one of the eeriest cars we’ve ever towed was a mid-90s sedan that its owner swore was haunted. After a bad accident, the car began to act… strange. The headlights would flicker, the horn would blare in the middle of the night, and the dashboard lights would flash—despite the fact that the car had no battery! Even the mechanics couldn’t figure out what was causing these ghostly occurrences.
When we arrived to tow it away, the owner begged us to keep the car far away from her home. Needless to say, we took extra precautions when handling that one! We didn’t run into any spirits, but it made for a great story around the office.
The Vintage Treasure
Not all wrecked cars are worthless, and sometimes we come across a real gem. One day, we got a call to pick up a car that had been sitting in a barn for years after a fender-bender. When we arrived, we couldn’t believe our eyes—it was a 1967 Mustang Fastback! While the front end had been wrecked, the rest of the car was in pristine condition.
Instead of sending it straight to the junkyard, we helped the owner auction off the salvageable parts. It turns out that even wrecked, this car was worth more than most running vehicles! That’s why we always say, you never know what hidden treasures could be hiding under the rust.
The Party Bus Gone Wrong
If you think your junk car has an interesting story, wait until you hear about the party bus we towed away. This neon-green bus was decked out with disco lights, a full mini-bar, and a karaoke machine. It had been used for bachelor parties and road trips before a minor accident turned it into a permanent lawn ornament.
According to the owner, they were on a “once-in-a-lifetime” cross-country road trip when things took a turn for the worse. The bus’s front axle gave out, leaving them stranded in someone’s yard—where it stayed for months until we got the call. We may not have attended the parties, but towing that bus definitely made our week more interesting!
The Chicken Coop Van
And now, for perhaps the most unusual vehicle we’ve ever picked up—a van that had been converted into a mobile chicken coop. Yes, you read that right! The owner used the van to transport his prized chickens to fairs and competitions, and when it got into a minor accident, he kept using it as a temporary home for the chickens. Eventually, though, the chickens were relocated to a proper coop, and we were called to pick up the van.
Imagine our surprise when we opened the doors and found not just feathers but nesting boxes and chicken feed all over the place. Needless to say, this van was definitely one for the record books!
